Understanding Cervical & Lumbar Radiculopathy

Radiculopathy occurs when a nerve root near the spine becomes irritated or compressed. Cervical radiculopathy affects nerves in the neck and may cause pain, tingling, numbness, or weakness that extends into the shoulder, arm, or hand. Lumbar radiculopathy affects nerves in the lower back and may cause similar symptoms in the buttock, leg, or foot.

Symptoms may vary depending on the affected nerve and can result from conditions such as disc-related changes, age-related spinal changes, or other causes.

Our Treatment Approach

At Snayu Neurocare, Dr. Garima Pandey provides neurological evaluation for symptoms related to cervical and lumbar radiculopathy.

Assessment may include a review of symptoms, medical history, muscle strength, sensation, reflexes, balance, and daily functioning. MRI, nerve-conduction studies, or other investigations may be advised when clinically indicated.

Treatment may include appropriate medical management, symptom-relief measures, activity guidance, and follow-up. Physiotherapy, rehabilitation, or referral for further specialist care may also be advised based on the underlying cause and severity of symptoms.

When Should You See a Neurologist?

You may benefit from neurological evaluation if neck or lower-back pain spreads into the arms or legs, or if numbness, tingling, weakness, or symptoms affecting daily activities persist or worsen. Assessment can help identify the cause and guide appropriate management.
